Association Officers:


President: Marguerite Pattern OBE
  Marguerite began her career in the fuel industry where she gained valuable experience in cooking before the public.
In 1947 she was asked to become the regular cookery expert in the very first B.B.C. television magazine programme, called Designed for Women. She continued with this programme until it ended in the early 1960's.
Marguerite Patten enjoys participating in various television programmes such as Food and Drink on BBC2, Carlton Food programmes, and recently as a judge on Masterchef. Early in 2000 she was the subject of 'This is Your Life'.
She has also been the Food Consultant on the Channel 4 1940's House series and has appeared in several episodes.
It is as an author that Marguerite Patten is so well known today, for she has written over 165 cookery books, dealing with a vast range of subjects. Sales of her books amount to over 17 million throughout the world and her cookery cards total 500 million.
Marguerite Patten is a member of the Forum on Food at the Royal Society of Medicine, a member of the Guild of Food Writes and President of the Microwave Technologies Association. She has been associated with Soundaround for many years - this is a charity that is responsible for sending out a monthly cassette to the blind. On these Marguerite records hints and recipes each month and deals with any cookery problems encountered by the blind listeners.
In the Queen’s Birthday Honours of June, 1991, Marguerite Patten was awarded the O.B.E. for her services to the art of cookery.


Chairman: Jennipher Marshall-Jenkinson
  Jennipher Marshall-Jenkinson has been a qualified home economist for many years, spending the first half of her career working with the dairy industry. Marriage took her to live in Australia for 5 years, where she helped to set up the highly successful 'Microwave Information Council of Australia' (MICA). Since being back in the UK Jennipher has become one of Britain's microwave cookery experts and has also helped to set up Britain's largest digital imaging company - DirekTek Distribution Limited, for whom she was Company and Finance Director. She has been short listed by the small business bureau as 'Business Woman of the Year', has been vice-chair of the Hillingdon Business Women's Network, bulletin secretary for the UKHEF and Chairman and Finance Officer of the Microwave Technologies Association from 1996 - 1999 and continues the Chairmanship again from 2003 - 2008.
Since 2006 Jennipher has also been Director of the travel companies 'Chile Inside Out', and 'Good Mountain Guides'.



Editor of Newsletter 'Highlights': Lewis Napleton
  The editor of our quarterly newsletter called 'Highlights'. Lewis has long been associated with microwave ovens. When working with companies such as Lyons, Phillips, Litton and Zanussi he became closely involved with projects and the pioneering of food service systems that involved microwave ovens.
A prolific author of articles and boks on modern food sercise topics, he is a freelance providor of business services, mostly for suppliers to the food and food service industries.


Past Chairman and Past Information Officer: Jenny Webb
  Jenny Webb has been a member of the MTA since its inauguration in 1978 and twice held the Chairmanship. She was Chairman of the IEC 59K committee which dealt with cooking appliances and microwave ovens and of the UK Microwave Working Group. A UK pioneer of microwave she was a prolific broadcaster and has written numerous articles and books on the subject.



Technical Officer and Past Chairman: Gordon Andrews

Gordon Andrews has been an active MTA member since its inauguration in 1978, initially representing Litton Microwave Cooking Products where for ten years he was Technical Manager Europe. In this capacity he was responsible for their technical related business activities, including British Standards Technical Committee membership, regular US factory liaison for local design requirements and international product safety agency approvals, plus set-up and management of Litton’s extensive after-sales service operations throughout Europe.

In 1983 Gordon established GAMA Microwave Technology to provide an independent industry source for supplying microwave appliance engineering design services, and practical food heating technology assistance. During the early 1990’s Gordon became involved with advanced combination oven developments and introduction of the even-heating, no-limitation, mode resonator microwave system; which is currently being used in consumer, commercial catering & bakery ovens, and recently introduced foodservice combination-steamer equipment.

During his career Gordon has maintained MTA membership, being Technical Officer throughout, and promoting the benefits of microwave use through conference presentations, numerous industry publications, together with radio and TV interviews. He has represented the Association at British Standards Technical Committee meetings, the UK Government (MAFF) Microwave Working Party, and many other food industry related events.

Gordon was Chairman 1989 to 1990 during the adverse media microwave oven and microwave food safety periods, and held Joint Chairmanship with Jenny Webb 1994 to 1995.




Past Chairman: Lisa Amy Jones

Lisa Amy Jones is Senior Home Economist at Sharp Manufacturing Co. UK Ltd, where she works with development engineers on new microwave oven features and cooking programs. Working with worldwide test kitchens, she is responsible for conducting IEC and MAFF tests and for writing and developing operation manuals and cookbooks.
During this time she has developed the cooking performance of microwave ovens and has written endless operation manuals and cookbooks.
In her professional capacity as Home Economist, Lisa has been invited to share her knowledge and experience at a number of forums and cookery demonstrations. She held a committee post on the Household Appliance section of the British Standards Institute and assisted in the revisions of UK microwave cooking procedures.
Having joined the Microwave Association in 1994, Lisa was elected to be Chairman in 2001 until 2003. Her achievements as Chair were to strengthen the Association profile, develop the website from a single page to microwave resource centre, encompass advanced and accelerated heating methods, and attract new members.
